Sisters in Crime-Colorado is an organization run completely by volunteers and we strive to have every single member involved.
You don't have to be a published author or a longtime member to volunteer your time and talent to make our chapter even stronger and more vibrant.
Even better, the skills you learn in volunteering can help your writing career. Building relationships with booksellers, sending out newsletters and posting on social media are all skills you likely will need as an author. Yes, we'll train you!
With all that in mind, we have a long list of ways to support our chapter while building or polishing important skills:
Bookstore/Library Liaisons
Love your local bookstore or library? We do too! We're looking for people who want to build their relationships with bookstores and libraries while working on placing chapter anthology and members' books on their shelves, perhaps with dedicated "Local Author" tables and branding.
Membership Growth and Outreach
We're looking for members who want to develop ideas to increase our membership and who want to help other members maximize their membership benefits. You would work closely with Membership Chair Colette Auclair, who would love your support!
Newsletter Editor
We launched our newsletter Detection Connection this year with the idea of keeping our members informed and letting others in the crime fiction world - booksellers, librarians, readers - learn more about us. We're happy to train in all things newsletter, an excellent skill for writers to have!
Programming
We're looking for help putting together our daylong Quarterly Events, our main in-person gatherings for our chapter. Identify topics and work with speakers for morning and afternoon sessions. You would work closely with Programming Chair Nancy Mitchell, who would love your help!
Social Media
Are you already checking your favorite social media platform daily? Ready to add posting info and graphics we provide to your routine a couple times a week? We're looking for help on platforms including BlueSky, Facebook, Pinterest and Goodreads. Yes, we'll train you!
Zoom Events
We're looking for members who want to create and facilitate online opportunities for fun and education. You would be part of our Field Trips committee, putting together virtual events that are offered quarterly for our members in Colorado and beyond.
